Cat Quad Steering

I am looking at purchasing a 2009 Arctic Cat 500 4x4. I test drove it and I liked it except I thought it was hard to steer. In doing some checking on the internet I am finding this is common with Arctic Cats. Can anyone explain this to me and/or tell me this is not the case?

True, cats are noted for steering being harder than others. If i were to buy another cat i would get power assist. My TRV at 800lbs, gives me a real workout if i'm doing tight turning all day long. That said, my daughter has been driving the TRV since she was 12. She will drive until her arms give out then we trade places and I drive. She hauls ass on the straits but it will kick her but if a rut comes out of no where, but she will not stop until she has to. I know a more slow, technical, long ride is not so fun on a cat. I don't really notice it just cruising around. Never had any toruble with my cat since i have owned it. The only thing i would improve is the steering stiffness. Added plus is that most cat riders are better at arm restling

Just stiring the pot since i'm one of only a handfull of cat owners on the west coast.

I'm not a cat owner, but a bear owner. The power steering on the Grizzly 700 (and now on the smaller ones too) is totally worth the price of admission. I also have a 660 (non-PS) and it's a WORKOUT compared to the 700. Now that I'm used to it - and I still do like my 660 - I would not get a machine without the power assist steering.
