TerraCross RT

Postby Dennis » Wed Jan 31, 2007 1:07 pm

My TerraCross RT's arrived today. These things just look great. I got the in 26x14 and am using the new ITP SS106 14" wheels. Future testing reports will follow. I figure with all the bighorn fans we have here, maybe we can do some heads up testing. 8)

Here are some more pics mounted on the Brute.

Here is a shot of the rim edge. I was a little worried about rim protection with these tires. The 14" rims come in two widths. 6" for the front and 8" for the rear. This seems to protect the rim lip with tire overhang.

"bighorn fans we have here"
Most of the bighorns are new and need time on the rocks. I would like to see on a late summer day in the big sluce. Time will tell.
Oldtrucks has lots of miles on his and not a lot of tread loss.
Rubber looks to very hard?
Aired down they seem to have the same profile, not a larger foot print?
All this from a man that had to go to Halfmoon bay for a free set of Mudlites

They look awesome man! I am curious, what made you go with 14 instead of 12?

It was a tough decision. The 26" size is only available in 14". I really didn't want the 14" rims. I saw a set (26" with different rims) on a quad when I bought the wolverine for my wife. I really liked them and have wanted the terracross' ever since. When I saw how nice your rims looked, that sealed the deal for me. I was a little worried about rim offsets. I might have some rubbing issues. But all in all I'm really happy so far. I curious to see how they perform next to the bighorns. They probably won't wear as well. The durability of the bighorns is well documented and these will probably come up short in that department also. I figured they are new and there is really only one way to see how they'll do. I'm hoping to do some side by side testing with the bighorns and maybe do a write up on their strengths and weaknesses. My 4-110 bolt pattern is pretty common among IRS quads. What I need now is someone willing to do the work with me. Are you interested? If it ever snows around here, that could be our first testing ground. Both of our tires would be the same size and pretty much brand new. Our quads are similar in size, weight, and power. We could do some riding for an hour or so, swap wheels and repeat the same sort of circumstances. Then we could both give our impressions. We might even be able to talk Ken into posting our results.

I'll post a review of anything.

I'd like to have a "long-Term" review.....something on Snow, Trails and Rocks.

Pick a weekend in the summer...ride the Tahoe side...then rock crawl in the springs and do a whole spread on it.

I think the tires and wheels look good, I not sure I would spend that kind of money on a KAWI.

I've only been out once. I can say that the little snow we found, they did great. I had to keep dragging my other two solid axle quads out. I hope to give a more in depth review at a latter date. If this current storm dumps as much snow as they claim, I'll have more white stuff to test in.
